Somewhere close to 250 business professionals from the surrounding Chambers of Commerce descended upon Mooseheart on Thursday evening, June 11th, to see the Campus and learn about our children and what happens to them while they're here.
Chamber Members from the Aurora, Batavia, Fox Valley, Geneva, and St. Charles Chambers of Commerce responded to our Open House invitation forwarded on to them by their respective Chambers. It was an idea conceived an implemented by Moose Charities, and put into motion by Gary Urwiler and his staff, to spread the word amongst the local business community to further develop external sources of revenue and event sponsorship for the recurring fundraisers of Moose Charities on behalf of Mooseheart.
With food donated by Aliano's Ristorante in Bavavia, beer donated by Penrose Brewing Company in Geneva, and wind donated by Fox Valley Winery in Oswego, this event was a large undertaking that resulted in much good will and furthered understanding of the work that Mooseheart puts forth for its children. The evening couldn't have succeeded without the support of Charlie Palochko, Nancy Backmeyer, and Helen Urwiler, who kept the PJO Center in exceptional condition all evening. Tours of the Campus that featured the House of God, Mooseheart School, and the James J. Davis Home were also conducted through the evening.
In addition to these activities, a large presence of Moose International, Mooseheart, and Moose Charities personnel plus Moose Charities Advisory Committee members were on hand to talk with our guests, answer questions, and provide some history. This event also served as an enjoyable social gathering where not only the Chamber members could converse and exchange ideas with each other, but also all the Moose leadership were enabled to do the same with our guests as well as amongst themselves. Much good will come out of this, in many ways.
