The seemingly always-changing Midwest weather has been teasing us with warmer temperatures and sunny days, and the chirping birds have everyone in Moose Charities thinking about spring! Spring time at Moose Charities means that the close of the fiscal year is near, we’re gearing up for our next Sweepstakes and the semi-annual Veterans Walk at Mooseheart is right around the corner.
Last year, the Veterans Walk was cancelled due to the pandemic, so we are really looking forward to seeing the majestic tribute back on campus for this Memorial Day. The Veterans Walk opened in May of 2012, and aims to honor the men and women who serve or have served our country through military duty. Each flag is accompanied by a plaque for a specific veteran with their branch of service and war or conflict, if applicable. Starting at the PJO building to the House of God, flags and plaques honoring and remembering veterans line the walkway.

In addition to serving as a beautiful tribute, each Veterans Walk donation helps provide the necessary resources for the continued support and maintenance of Mooseheart. Before the flags are set to be displayed during Memorial Day weekend and the week of Veteran’s Day in November, the number of donations that we see come in for this program leaves us all is awe. Just a few weeks ago we saw over 40 donations come through in a matter of days! The Veterans Walk program is really a wonderful way to forever honor and remember a current servicemember or veteran, and help support the mission of Mooseheart.

When will the Current Veterans list be updated?
Also wondering when the list will be updated and if it is possible to have a picture taken of my husband’s plaque since we will be unable to visit this Memorial weekend.
When will new list be updated
