Monday, March 23, 2020 was the start of Moose Charities’ work from home efforts under Illinois’ recent executive shelter-in-place order, and let’s just say our efforts got off to a bumpy start. For me personally, I now know a lot more about internet modems and VPNs than I ever cared to know.
Working from home hasn’t been all bad for Moose Charities, though. For instance, all five of us ladies are particularly enjoying doing our work in comfy clothes and without make up. And, with our less fashionable, very casual dress code, we’ve all tapped into our crafty sides with the faces we show on video conferencing…can you guess who’s who?

We’ve all become very creative with our new home work stations too. I can’t say I’m complaining about writing this blog post from the comfort of my own bed with my sleepy dogs beside me. I think our Development Manager, Liz, is having the best time of all of us, as I hear she’s working from her basement bar. (bar is closed during work hours, of course!) Laura, our Development Specialist, says she is practicing safe social distancing from her refrigerator. Gail, our Major Gifts Officer has set up shop in her basement too, though she calls it her warehouse. And Pam, our Executive Director, has her new co-worker joining her most mornings, it’s her curious cat. This stay-at-home order has us all a little worried our work pants might fit a bit more snug once we’re back into the office.
All jokes aside, we at Moose Charities are doing our best to uphold our mission of supporting the children at Mooseheart and the seniors at Moosehaven. While we are working hard and diligently from the safety of our own homes during this uncertain time, we want you to know that we are here to help and answer questions to the best of our ability. We miss hearing your voices—feel free to call and leave us a voicemail. One of us will gladly return the call, albeit from our home. Or send us an email to request@moosecharities.org and we’ll be happy to get back to you. We wish our Moose community good health and happiness—stay safe. We’re in this together!
