Let’s Get Rocking! Ideas to Boost Your Rocker Fundraiser

Rocker FundraiserDuring the month of February, Moose Charities partners with the Lodges and Chapters of the Moose Fraternity to host the Rocker Fundraiser for the Mooseheart/ Moosehaven Endowment Fund.  If you have been to a Moose Lodge during February, you should recognize the Rocker pictured on the right.

Each Rocker displayed holds the name of a lodge member who has made a donation to the fundraiser.  Many lodges and chapters find success in boosting their total giving through this fundraiser because they put in a lot of time, creativity and effort to make it a success.

Today, we are going to share with you some of the creative ideas we have heard for raising funds with the Rocker Fundraiser.

PIE IN THE FACE FUNDRAISER

Throughout the years of the Rocker Fundraiser, we have witnessed many variations of men vs. women competitions and all have been successful.  However, one of our favorite ideas involves pies. Yes, pies.

For this variation of the Rocker Fundraiser members of the lodge (men) hold a competition against members of the chapter (women) to see which group can gather the most donations. Here’s where it gets exciting—If the men are successful at getting the most donations, the senior regent (or whoever the group chooses) receives a pie in the face.  If the women are successful at getting the most donations, the governor (or whoever the group chooses) receives a pie in the face. Rockers can be printed off in one color for the men’s donations and in another color for women’s donations and help to give a visual picture of who is ahead and encourage more donations.

We have seen this idea successfully executed by many fun-loving lodges and chapters.  And, in our books, it is a winner. You could even say it is “easy as pie” to pull off!

Of course, if you would rather not have a pie in your face there are other options!

RAINBOW DONATIONS

Generally, during the Rocker Fundraiser individuals donate a single dollar to write their name on the Rocker and hang it on the wall.  However, if you are looking to go big this year we are fans of THIS EASY IDEA that helps to encourage larger donations.

To pull off the “Rainbow Donations” variation of the Rocker Fundraiser, the only materials you will need are the Rocker Template and different colored of paper or cardstock. Then, print Rockers in multiple colors and post LARGE versions of each color Rocker, each with a different donation level in your lodge’s social quarters.

FOR EXAMPLE:

Orange Rocker: $1.00

Blue Rocker: $5.00

Green Rocker: $10.00

Purple Rocker: $20.00

The draw behind this fundraiser is recognition.  If everyone who visits the Lodge sees and knows that a green rocker represents a $10.00 donation and a purple rocker represents a $20.00 donation, more people are likely to donate at those levels to have their name recognized.

RACE TO THE FINISH

This variation of the Rocker Fundraiser is another idea for men vs. women competition.  To successfully accomplish “Race to the Finish” you will need copies of the Rocker Template and to decide upon a goal amount that you would like your Lodge/ Chapter to earn for the Endowment Fund.

Once you have decided on a goal amount, create a start and finish line on the wall with your goal largely displayed at the finish.  You can print out different colors of the Rocker Template and have a lane for each team.  Then, you guessed it—race to the finish! Every time someone makes a donation, put the Rocker in their lane and whichever group can reach their goal first wins a prize.  You can use your creativity for the prize, and most of the time bragging rights work just fine!

GOOD LUCK!

We hope these ideas have helped to spur some excitement in you for the Rocker Fundraiser and have given you what you need to get going! If you have any ideas that you would like to share with us or any questions please contact us at request@moosecharities.org.
